Privateer

Due to the recent increase in pirate activity in this arm of space, a consortium of shipping and
Mining companies have outfitted a Q-ship in order to protect their assets and discourage piracy .
They have a ship ready, the problem is that they need an experienced crew to man it . Most experienced personnel,  along with most military ships have been drawn off to the French arm of the core . They are willing to pay twice the standard salary plus a percentage on salvage . This will be small say 1-2% has they have to cover the ship`s upgrade and operating expenses and also want to recoup some of their recent loses .

The ship is a Manchurian built Shenyan freighter . Despite is appearance when empty warp efficiency
allows for a movement rating of 7 more then enough to catch/out run anything the players might
encounter . The ship has been fitted with a range 10 active and 6 passive sensor suite . Weaponry consists of a pair of Hyde EA 1000 high output laser in single mount , a pair of Parker Hale submunition dispensers with 18 rounds each ( 3 clips) . The ship has also been fitted with 6 cellular missile launchers capable of accepting more ordnance than is in current use . ( the players will have 3 SR-10s and 3 Glowworms ) The ship also carries a French DA 2290 which also double as a sensor drone ( the agent will encourage the players to use it as it mainly as a remote sensor  platform as missiles are hard to come by especially with the Kafer war on, submunitions are more plentiful ) . Even though the ship's 20 Mw fission plant can handle the new weapons and sensors, a MHD booster has been added in the hold in order to maximize warp efficiency.

The PC`s will be provided with a letter of Marque from SANN identifying them as a legitimate
Private security vessels . This is to be used when coming in port for repairs and for the occasional
run-ins with the few remaining warships in the arm . Should the players do a really good job they my get to keep a small salvage freighter or courier .
